| Since its launch in 2001, WFA has grown into one of the most popular coaching organisations in the area with it's main centre at Ashdene Primary School, Thoresway Road, Wilmslow held every Saturday morning from 10am until 12 noon.
Until recently WFA formed part of the Manchester City Satellite Academy network and provided the club with over twenty young hopefuls. Following several successful and enjoyable years with the Blues WFA is delighted that we now enjoy a partnership with Manchester United and the best young players are invited to attend United's Junior Academy from where such stars as David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes, Wes Brown and Gary Neville as well as many more superb players have graduated.
All the coaching staff at WFA are CRB checked and are qualified to FA or UEFA standard.
Children as young as four attend the Academy and quickly learn the basics of the game through specialised coaching and of course copying what the older boys and girls do. From ages four through to eleven the children train in groups of similar ability honing their skills and enjoying the fun training routines and matches.
WFA is also the main source of players for Wilmslow Albion Junior Football Clubs under 9's squads. During the Summer of 2007 WFA formed a partnership with Wilmslow Albion Football Club. The objective of both organisations is simple. Once the youngsters at the Academy are ready and able, they can play for Albion's junior teams in the Timperley and District Football League. Not only that but WFA has also provided the club with other older teams such as the Champions of the Mid Cheshire League the under 16's and the twice Champions of the Timperley League the under 11's.
Wilmslow Albion Under 11s, 2007/2008 Season
The plan is that within 7 years, every player in the junior ranks at Albion will be a graduate of Wilmslow Football Academy.
Each year WFA hold trials for the club and helps them select the best players to form the new under 9's teams. This has proved very successful so far with over twenty boys progressing from the Academy last year! Prior to last season, WFA provided Wilmslow Sports with all their junior players too, some 60 or so in total. One of last years teams - the Pumas under 9's - won the Timperley and District League title winning a record 20 out of 20 games along the way. They then went on to win the under 10's first division losing only one game out of twenty!
You will see the WFA logo emblazoned across the shirts of all the Albion junior teams in recognition of our proud support of Wilmslow's oldest club!
Fun, Football and Friendship are the main criteria at WFA. A combination that obviously works.
